How Do You Correct Tooth Loss?

If you have a gap in your smile, then you may be interested in prosthetic dentistry. We can replace a lost tooth with a lifelike solution, such as a dental bridge or a dental implant. We can even address advanced tooth loss as well.

Frequently Asked Questions About Replacing Lost Teeth

Question: When do you recommend a dental bridge?

Answer: We may suggest a bridge if you’ve lost between one and three teeth in a row. The prosthetic contains pontics (replacement teeth) and abutments (dental crowns). The abutments are attached to the natural teeth on either side of the gap in your smile, anchoring your new teeth in place.

Question: How do you address advanced tooth loss?

Answer: If you’ve lost several teeth, then a denture may be recommended. A partial denture can address multiple missing teeth spread out across the arch. They are held in place with metal clasps that attach to the natural teeth. A full denture is held in place with suction, replacing all of the teeth on one or both arches. Either option will be custom-made using lifelike materials, ensuring the replacement teeth blend seamlessly with the rest of your smile.

Question: Can dental implants really last a lifetime?

Answer: In some cases, they can! A dental implant is surgically placed into the jawbone, with restorations attached to them to replace the visible portion of the tooth. Since they bond with the jawbone, they can act as new tooth roots, lasting for decades or possibly a lifetime of proper care and maintenance is taken. We can use them to replace a single missing tooth or secure a fixed prosthetic, such as a bridge or denture.
