Dr. Diep Truong
Dr. Truong focuses her practice on providing excellent dental care for members of the whole family, from infants to great-grandparents. Dr. Truong especially enjoys working with her younger patients because it gives her the opportunity to not only shape their dental habits at a young age but also to create positive associations with visiting the dentist.
Dr. Truong understands that for a variety of reasons, many people have negative feelings about professional dental care. To help turn this negative impression into a positive one, Dr. Truong and her staff treat every patient with respect and compassion. In addition, she has developed a practice that takes the stuffy, sterile, and clinical aspects of old-fashioned offices and transforms it into a place where patients can feel relaxed, engaged, and entertained. In Dr. Truong’s own words:
“Our passion here at Viva Dental is to change people’s perspective on going to the dentist and make the dental experience the opposite of what people might expect.”
Dr. Truong was born in Paris, Texas, grew up in Richardson, and attended the Greenhill School in Dallas. She graduated cum laude from the University of Dallas at Irving with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a minor in business. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in 2003, where she received the prestigious Dr. P. Earle Williams Award from the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Chapter.
To ensure that her patients receive the most innovative treatment available, each year Dr. Truong attends numerous hours of continuing education courses to keep abreast of advanced dental materials and cutting-edge technology. Dr. Truong has completed more than 100 hours in Comprehensive Orthodontic Education from the American Orthodontic Society and has attended numerous hands-on classes at the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Conference in Nashville, TN, and San Diego, CA.
Dr. Truong believes deeply in giving back to her community and is passionate about investing in the people and the city that invested in her life. She provides dental education to local school children each year and her office hosts the “Give Kids A Smile” each year, where she and her team provide free preventive treatment for children under the age of 12. In addition, she encourages healthy choices with the annual Candy Buy Back Program. Her office buys back candy from children at a dollar per pound, then ships the candy to our troops overseas as part of Operation Gratitude. Dr. Truong also enjoys mentoring dental students at Baylor College of Dentistry and serves as a Preceptor Faculty member at the dental school. Dr. Truong is a longstanding member of the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, and Dallas County Dental Society. She has dedicated her time as both the Mentor Committee Chairman, Continuing Education Chairman, and currently, 2016 President of the Dallas Asian Dental Association.
When not working or volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her husband Trinh and son Aidan, traveling, biking, and fishing.
