What is Invisalign?
An uneven smile can negatively impact both the health and appearance of your smile. In order to correct, we may recommend orthodontic treatment. As an alternative to traditional braces, you may qualify for Invisalign clear aligners. If clear aligners are right for you, then our Invisalign-certified prosthodontist can custom-design your treatment in our office.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
Straightening crooked teeth reduces your risk of tooth decay, gum disease, TMJ disorder, bruxism, and other common oral health concerns. With clear aligners, not only is your treatment barely noticeable, but also more comfortable. Other benefits include:
- Aligners can be removed prior to meals so you don’t need to change how you eat.
- Removable aligners allow for easier teeth brushing and flossing.
- Fewer office visits are required when compared to traditional orthodontics.
- In some cases, treatment times may be shorter than traditional orthodontic treatments.
How do clear aligners work?
Optimal candidates for Invisalign are over the age of 16 with minor alignment issues. If you qualify, we will take pictures and impressions of your smile, and the Invisalign lab will use these measurements to create your custom aligners. The aligners must be worn every day for between 20 and 23 hours, and you should only remove them before meals, when brushing/flossing your teeth, or when changing them for the next set.
