pediatric2Making dentistry easier for children.

One of the most important aspects of pediatric dental care is making children feel comfortable with visiting the dentist. At Viva Dental, we strive to make both kids and adults feel at home in our office, with everything from video games and a reading area in the waiting room, to TVs on exam room ceilings with wireless headphones. In the event that your child requires more than just an exam and cleaning, we also offer oral conscious sedation, a safe relaxation method that combines nitrous oxide and anti-anxiety medication.

Educating children and parents.

Teaching children proper brushing and flossing techniques, as well as educating parents on monitoring their children’s habits, goes a long way in preventing gum disease and cavities for life. Bringing your children to our office every six months is another vital component of their oral health, as seeing the dentist regularly ensures that if new problems develop, they are caught early enough to be treated without invasive procedures.

Preventive and restorative dentistry.

At every dental checkup, we will examine your child’s teeth to make sure he or she is brushing properly. If necessary, we can also administer fluoride treatment and/or dental sealants to protect cavity-prone teeth. If your child has already developed a cavity, then we can recommend a conservative restoration, such as a tooth filling, to treat it. You can also request that we make a custom mouthguard if your child plays sports for optimal tooth protection during every practice and game.

Orthodontics for children.

Straightening a child’s crooked teeth with orthodontic treatment can correct a variety of issues, including overbites, underbites, crossbites, crowded teeth, and widely-spaced teeth. Treatment typically takes about two years, during which time your child will require routine adustment and cleaning visits to ensure the treatment’s success.
