Taking Steps to Preserve Your Smile
As people approach adulthood, up to four new teeth could arrive. Known as wisdom teeth, or third molars, these often cause serious problems for the health, function, and esthetics of your smile. For these reasons, our trained on-staff periodontist will usually recommend an extraction before they even erupt. By doing so, we help prevent complications that could negatively impact your overall health
The Wisdom Tooth Extraction Process
For our teen and adult patients in their early 20s, we will keep an eye on the wisdom teeth during periodic examinations. Before they begin to erupt, we will administer anesthesia and dental sedation to ensure you’re comfortable. Our talented in-house prosthodontist, Dr. Ambriz, or our skilled periodontist, Dr. Shalev, may perform the procedure. then we will gently remove the teeth and suture the area closed. We will provide detailed aftercare instructions and prescribe necessary medications to facilitate a complication-free healing period. Remember, removing your wisdom teeth prevents painful partial eruptions known as impactions, as well as misalignment, infection, and damaged teeth.
