halloween

Happy Halloween, everyone! The big day is coming up, are your kids excited? As dental professionals, we recognize the fun of Halloween but we also acknowledge the dangers all that sugar can have for our smiles. To help your little one’s maintain healthy smiles, we’re offering our third annual candy buy back program!

Dr. Truong’s Candy Buy Back Program

Halloween candy sometimes has a habit of sticking around well into the winter holidays. What do you do with all that excess candy? Why not make a little money while safeguarding your child’s teeth against cavities? At Viva Dental Family Dentistry, we’re paying one dollar for every pound of candy you and your family bring in. We will be hosting the candy buy back program on Wednesday November 5th from noon to 8pm. Bring your child’s holiday haul to our Richardson location at:

722 W. Spring Valley Rd. Richardson, TX. For more information, feel free to call us at (972) 437-6000.

All the candy we gather will be sent to troops overseas as part of Operation Gratitude. You will also be entered into a raffle to win a Philips Kids Sonicare Toothbrush.

Preventing Tooth Decay

What else can you do to help prevent tooth decay? First, you should cutback on the consumption of foods and drinks high in sugar and other starches. As bacteria break down sugars, they coat the teeth in a layer of plaque, which can weaken enamel and lead to decay. Next, brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once. Be sure to help your children brush and floss to ensure they are doing so properly. You and your children should also undergo regular dental cleanings to keep your teeth bright and decay-free.
