Give Kids a Smile
Each year, we host the Give Kids A Smile event. Started by the American Dental Association in 2003, this event involves dental professionals around the country offering free services to underserved kids in the community. We will be offering dental sealants and dental cleanings to kids under the age of 12 on February 24th from 9am until 6pm at our Richardson office. We recommend calling ahead because space is limited!
Preventive Dentistry for Kids
What are dental sealants? A plastic coating is applied to molars in the back of the mouth. These teeth are often difficult for kids to reach when brushing and flossing and as a result, food is often stuck between them. Tooth decay can then form, threatening their oral health and causing discomfort. The sealants prevent food from becoming stuck between the teeth. There is no need to have the dental sealants removed either, they simply wear away with time.
Maintaining Healthy Smiles at Home
As parents, you can help your kids enjoy healthier smiles at home. First, try to offer them healthier snacks instead of just candy or chips, such as fresh fruit or vegetables. You can also encourage them to drink more water instead of soda. Finally, make sure they brush their teeth twice a day and floss once a day.
