Now that your teens and college students are on summer break, this is a great time to consider treatment for misalignment. With orthodontic options like braces and Invisalign®, we can help your kids on their path to an even smile! In today’s blog, your Dallas, TX, family dentist talks about orthodontic treatment options.

The Importance of Correcting Uneven Smiles

We understand the benefits of a straighter smile. Obviously, you will feel more confident in your smile and more relaxed in social situations. You won’t try to hide your smile in your next group photo! But we also know that poor alignment provides places for food and drink particles to become trapped, even if you brush and floss. This can increase the risk of cavities and even periodontal disease. Poor alignment is also linked to painful complications like TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). By seeing us to correct your misalignment, you can enjoy better oral health and improved bite function too! To get started, give us a call. Our team includes Dr. Ambriz, who is certified in Invisalign® treatment, and a board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Mo!

Braces

If you have a more severe case of misalignment, then our team could offer relief with metal braces. These involve attaching a metal bracket to the front facing side of your teeth. We then connect a portion of a very thin arch wire to these brackets with a band. We may connect the upper and lower set with additional bands as well. Our team will adjust the tension in the wire during periodic visits, which gradually straightens your smile!

Invisalign®

One of the more popular options for our teen and adult patients is Invisalign®. With this option, we take on misalignment, but instead of braces we use a series of clear aligners that are practically Invisible when worn. These fit over your teeth and each custom set is worn for two weeks, 20 to 23 hours a day. They shift your teeth and help straighten them, sometimes in as little as a year to 18 months. They can also be removed before you eat or prior to brushing and flossing.

We want to help you enjoy an even smile, one that makes you feel confident when you are out in the world. Schedule a solution with our team so that we can help you decide which option is best for you. If you have any questions about braces or Invisalign®, don’t hesitate to call our office!
