What if we could correct your uneven smile with a clear series of aligners instead of metal braces? The Invisalign® process provides even results for teens and adults in as little as a year in some cases! In today’s blog, your Dallas, TX, family dentist talks about clear smile correction with Invisalign®.
The Causes and Risks of Dental Misalignment
Do you have crooked or crowded teeth? Do they overlap? If you have misalignment, this could be a source of embarrassment. In fact, some patients even avoid social interactions out of embarrassment. But your poor alignment could also lead to issues with the health of your smile. Your misalignment could provide places for sugar and starch particles to become trapped, even if you rush and floss you may not be able to reach and remove these, which increases the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. The pressure on your jaw joints from misalignment and malocclusion could also increase the risk of TMJ disorder and bruxism (teeth grinding). But with orthodontics, our team can help shift your smile and offer beautiful results! We could even offer a cosmetic approach with clear orthodontics.
Creating Custom Orthodontic Aligners
With Invisalign®, we don’t need metal brackets or wires at all. Instead, we will use a series of clear and nearly invisible aligners to correct your smile. To begin, we will examine your smile to assess the cause and severity of your misalignment, so we can make sure this is the best option for you. If so, then our team will take detailed digital images or impressions of the teeth, which experts will use in a lab setting to design and craft your new orthodontics. These will fit comfortably and provide treatment with precision.
The Invisalign® System
How does the treatment process work? The process is really simple and comfortable. You wear a set of aligners daily, usually about 20 to 22 hours, and do so over the course of about two weeks. You then begin wearing the next set in the series for the same out of time, and continue through the rest of the aligner sets. For some, optimal results take only one year, and you will require fewer office visits. Did we mention these are also removable? You can take them out before meals, brushing and flossing, or special occasions!
