richardson teeth whitening

We know that graduations are around the corner, and we want to make sure your teens attend with their brightest smile! Which is why we want to remind you about our professional in-office and at-home teeth whitening treatments. In today’s blog, your Richardson, TX, family dentist talks about removing stains and making smiles shine with cosmetic dentistry.

Taking On Your Teeth Stains

Our teeth can become stained for a number of reasons. For example, poor oral hygiene habits combined with a diet high in sugar and starch could cause plaque buildup, making discoloration more visible. Drinks with dark pigments, such as soda, red wine, coffee, and tea could stain our smiles. Tobacco use is another factor. We know how important a bright smile is for you on your big day, and we want to make sure your teeth truly shine on graduation day. Which is why we offer two different teeth whitening treatments, our in-office treatment and a take-home kit.

In-Office and At-Home Teeth Whitening

If you need results quickly, then you could try our in-office teeth whitening treatment, which can brighten smiles by several shades in only one visit. The entire visit only takes one to two hours tops. Our team will simply apply a protective covering on your lips and gums, and then place bleaching gel onto the teeth. We activate the gel with a special light, which then breaks up your stains and offers a brighter smile.

If you have more stubborn discoloration, we have an at-home teeth whitening treatment. With this option, you stop by our office just long enough for our team to create a custom set of plastic trays. We then send these trays home with you, along with several plastic syringes of bleaching gel. Each day you will wear the gel-filled trays for a specific amount of time, usually about an hour. After one to two weeks, you could have teeth up to eight shades brighter.

Masking Permanent Discoloration

Sometimes patients have what are known as intrinsic teeth stains. These form beneath the enamel instead of on the surfaces of our teeth, and some may be difficult for teeth whitening to remove. But don’t fear! We can still brighten your smile. With dental bonding, we can mask these stains in only one sitting. We also have lifelike porcelain veneers, that can mask discoloration and reshape the teeth, taking on multiple cosmetic concerns at once. If you want to try our teeth whitening treatments, or any of our other cosmetic options, then contact our team today!
