Good dental health not only affects their appearance, but their self-esteem and overall health, as well. Unfortunately, due to financial restrictions, many children are unable to receive the dental care they need. This is why your Dallas dentist, Dr. Diep Truong, recently participated in the nationwide “Give Kids A Smile” event. In today’s blog, Dr. Truong explains how this program allowed Viva Dental Family Dentistry to help the children in our community.

What is “Give Kids A Smile?”

photo (7)The American Dental Association started the “Give Kids A Smile” program in 2003 to help underprivileged children across the nation. This program allows dentists to provide dental care and education to children who are often underserved in their respective communities. “Give Kids A Smile” initially began as a one-day event before ballooning into a nationwide program. In fact, last year more than 450,000 children received necessary dental care, aided by dentists and over 40,000 volunteers. Each year, this program grows and becomes a bigger success, helping those who need it most.

A Huge Success!

Dr. Truong would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the talented hygienists, dental assistants, and volunteers for all of their hard work. Between our February “Give Kids A Smile” event and our work with area schools for  “Dental Health Awareness Month,” we have truly been able to make a difference in the lives of local children. If our readers or patients have any further questions or concerns regarding their children’s dental health, or programs like “Give Kids A Smile,” please don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Truong at Viva Dental Family Dentistry.
